Asian Maize conference ( 3 days meet) ( held on 8-10 October)

 


    Asian maize conference and expert consultation on maize for food, feed, nutrition and environment security held on 8-10 october 2018. DG ICAR Dr. Mahapatra inauagrated the conference and urged the scientists to work towards increasing maize productivity to 5 tons per hectare in the kharif season. He expressed need for PPP ( Public Private Partnership) system in India for developing new hybrid of crop to improve productivity. Dr Martin kropff, DG CIMMYT and Dr B M Prasanna director of Global maize programme CIMMYT and CGIAR research programme on maize also expressed their views.


    Conference was jointly organized by ICAR - International Maize and wheat improvement centre , ICAR- Indian Institute of Maize resaerch PUSA campus, New Delhi, Punjab Agricultural University, CGIAR research programme on maize and Borloug institute of south asia (BISA)
