1) Plant genetic resources : It includes both cultivated germplasm and wild species.
2) Segregation generation : Single plant selections are made from such populations and data is recorded on various characters such as yield components quality characters, resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses etc.
3) Multilocation experiments : Such experiments are conducted mainly for identification and release of new cultivars/hybrids and also for stability analysis.
4) Multiseasonal experiments : Such experiments are conducted for several years (3-5 years) for identification of new varities/hybrids.
