University of Agriculture Sciences, Bangalore to Launch Dedicated Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Department

    In a significant step toward integrating technology with agriculture, the University of Agriculture Sciences, Bangalore, will soon establish a separate department for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). This announcement was made by Dr. S.V. Suresh, Vice Chancellor of the University, during the inauguration of a one-day workshop on AI applications in agriculture.

The event, aimed at exploring training and future opportunities for AI in the sector, was jointly organized by UAS, Bangalore, Samsung Innovation Campus, Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI), and Mapping Skills Technology Institute, Noida.

“AI must be appropriately used to make agriculture more effective,” said Dr. Suresh. He added that AI and ML will also be introduced into the university’s curriculum, with dedicated courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The workshop saw participation including University Registrar Dr. K.C. Narayanaswamy, Dean Dr. N.B. Prakash, and Ekansh Raj from ESSCI.

The initiative marks a progressive move to modernize agricultural education and prepare students for the evolving landscape of agri-tech innovations.
