Mr. Samoon said the enumeration process was “almost complete,” adding that social audits would begin shortly in 19 districts to ensure accuracy and transparency in the final damage reports. The cyclone’s impact was particularly severe in Konaseema, Kakinada, Krishna, and East and West Godavari districts, where large tracts of agricultural land were affected.
Social Auditing and Grievance Redressal
The Director instructed all district agriculture officers to conduct social audits immediately after the completion of enumeration. He emphasized that grievances must be resolved within the stipulated time frame as per the official guidelines, ensuring full transparency and accountability in the process.
“The final approved lists must be issued only after obtaining consent from the grama sabhas,” Mr. Samoon directed, highlighting the importance of community involvement in the verification process.
Further, he said that officials must ensure that every farmer affected by crop loss is included in the enumeration list. Post-audit, the lists will undergo re-verification and super-checking by higher authorities before being finalized.
Ensuring Accuracy and Farmer Inclusion
Mr. Samoon reiterated the department’s commitment to a fair and transparent damage assessment. He added that no affected farmer should be left out, and that the final data would serve as the basis for providing necessary compensation and assistance.
With the enumeration nearing completion and social auditing set to begin, the Agriculture Department aims to finalize the damage reports soon, paving the way for timely support to cyclone-hit farmers across the state.
