Soil Nutrient Status – Rich and Deficient

 

• Alluvial soils are rich in potash and lime but generally lack nitrogen and phosphorus.
• Black (Regur) soils are high in lime, iron, magnesia, and potash but low in nitrogen, phosphorus, and organic matter.
• Red soils contain iron and potash but are deficient in nitrogen, phosphorus, and humus.
• Laterite soils have abundant iron oxide and potash but lack organic matter, nitrogen, phosphate, and calcium.
• Arid and desert soils contain soluble salts and phosphates but lack humus and nitrogen.
• Saline and alkaline soils are rich in sodium, potassium, and magnesium but deficient in nitrogen and calcium.
