Jaipur: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will launch ‘Bharat-VISTAAR’, an AI-based digital platform designed to provide farmers with multiple agricultural services through a single technology-enabled system.

The platform aims to strengthen farmers’ access to timely and reliable information on weather conditions, mandi prices, pest and disease management, soil health, crop advisory services and government schemes.

AI-Powered Support for Farmers

Bharat-VISTAAR is being developed as a digital companion for farmers, bringing essential agricultural information together in one place. Farmers will initially be able to access the platform through phone calls and a chatbot, while a dedicated mobile application is planned for a subsequent phase.

In its first phase, the platform will be available in Hindi and English and is expected to reach lakhs of farmers across several states, including Maharashtra, Bihar and Gujarat.

Agricultural Institutions to Support Outreach

The launch programme will connect Agriculture Ministers from various states and farmers from across the country through the extensive network of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), agricultural universities and other agricultural institutions.

This network is expected to play an important role in extending the reach of the AI-based platform and facilitating technology-driven agricultural advisory services.

AI for Agriculture Roadmap to Be Launched

During the programme, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will also launch the “AI for Agriculture Roadmap”, outlining a broader vision for the use of artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector.

The event will also feature announcements related to the “AI Hackathon” and “Agrikosh”, signalling further efforts to promote digital innovation, data-driven agriculture and technology-based solutions for farmers.

The programme will be attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary, senior officials of the Agriculture Department and representatives of the agricultural community.

With Bharat-VISTAAR, the government is seeking to expand the use of artificial intelligence and digital technology in agriculture, with the objective of making critical farm information more accessible and helping farmers make better-informed decisions.
