New Delhi, August  2026: 

The ICAR-National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (ICAR-NBAIM), Mau, has transferred three biofertilizer technologies BioNPK, BioGrow and BioPhos to BhuMicroGen Agrinoculants Pvt. Ltd., Telangana, for commercial production and wider dissemination among farmers.

The technology transfer is aimed at converting research-based innovations in agricultural microbiology into commercially available microbial solutions that can support sustainable and resource-efficient crop production.

Three Biofertilizer Technologies Transferred

Under the collaboration, BhuMicroGen Agrinoculants will commercially produce and disseminate the three technologies developed through ICAR-NBAIM's research efforts:

  • BioNPK
  • BioGrow
  • BioPhos

The technologies are expected to support soil health, nutrient-use efficiency and sustainable crop production, strengthening the use of microbial-based solutions in agriculture.

MoU Exchanged at Krishi Bhawan

The technology transfer was formalised through the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.

The MoU was exchanged by Dr Alok Kumar Srivastava, Director, ICAR-NBAIM, and Mr Akash Medicherla and Mr Nooka Rajesh, Directors, BhuMicroGen Agrinoculants Pvt. Ltd.

The event was attended by Dr D. K. Yadava, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, and Dr Poonam Jasrotia, Assistant Director General (Plant Protection & Biosecurity), ICAR.

Focus on Sustainable Agriculture

The collaboration is expected to improve the availability of biofertilizer technologies to farmers and encourage greater adoption of microbial inputs in crop production.

Biofertilizers can play an important role in sustainable agriculture by supporting nutrient availability and improving the efficiency with which crops utilise essential nutrients. Their wider adoption can also contribute to reducing dependence on resource-intensive agricultural inputs.

The transfer of BioNPK, BioGrow and BioPhos therefore represents an effort to bridge the gap between agricultural research and field-level application.

From Laboratory Research to Farmers' Fields

ICAR-NBAIM's latest initiative highlights the importance of technology commercialisation in agricultural research. By transferring technologies to a private-sector company for commercial production, research innovations can potentially reach a larger number of farmers.
