C R. Rao - Indian statistician


 C R. Rao was an Indian statistician and biometrician. In 1952, he suggested the use of D² statistics for the assessment of genetic diversity in plant breeding. Now this technique is widely used in plant breeding and genetics for the study of genetic divergence. This technique has been extensively used for assessing genetic diversity in crops like maize, Sorghum, pearl millet, wheat, linseed, cotton, tobacco, alfalfa and Brassica. In 1952, he published a book titled "Advanced Statistical Methods in Biometrical Research.
