Launched in August 2017, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana is a transformative scheme aimed at enhancing the agro-marine processing sector and developing agro-processing clusters across the country. Its primary objective is to strengthen the food processing industry by creating efficient forward and backward linkages within agro-processing clusters.
The scheme targets the development of food-processing capabilities that will directly benefit approximately 20 lakh farmers by improving market access and increasing value addition to their produce. Additionally, it is expected to generate employment opportunities for about 5 lakh people, thereby fostering rural economic growth and supporting livelihoods.
By promoting modern infrastructure and technology in agro-processing, the scheme not only aims to reduce post-harvest losses but also enhances farmers’ incomes and contributes to the overall growth of the agricultural sector.
