ADVANCES IN QUANTITATIVE GENETICS ( Question paper )

·        Define and scale, and scaling and joint scaling tests.

·        Mention biometrical methods to unravel genetics of quantitative traits at first- and second-degree statistics levels.

·        Define additive and dominance gene effects. Show with a numerical example how do you

estimate them?

·        Show the dynamics of trait means of selfing generations (F1, F2 and F3 generations in the    (a) in the presence of only additive gene  effects and (2) in the presence of dominance effects

·        Define epistasis and different types of digenic epistatic  parameters

·        Write the components of additive and dominance gene effects that contribute to means of  P1,  P2, F1, F2, B1 and B2 generations

·        Illustrate presence and absence of digenic epistasis using a numerical example.
