Launched on 14th April 2016, the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) is an innovative e-trading platform designed to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities. The platform aims to bring transparency to sale transactions and enable efficient price discovery, initially focusing on regulated markets.
Key features of e-NAM include liberal licensing of traders, buyers, and commission agents, with a single license valid across all markets within a state, simplifying trade operations. It also introduces a single-point levy of market fees to reduce the cost burden on farmers. Additionally, soil testing laboratories are provisioned at or near selected mandis to assist farmers in improving crop quality.
By integrating agricultural markets across the country, e-NAM targets to streamline the supply chain, increase farmer incomes, and empower them with better market access and fair prices.
