Sir Francis Galton - British Eugenicist

 

    He was an English explorer, anthropologist and eugenicist. He is known for his pioneer work on Human intelligence. He was knighted in 1909. He was cousin of Charles Darwin. He coined the word eugenics and proposed the idea of improving the physical and mental makeup of human species by selective mating of marriage partners. He emphasized in his work Heriditary genius that physical and mental features of human are genetically controlled and inherited from generation to generation. Galton first used regression co efficient for estimating between height of fathers and their sons.
