Tops small; leaves glossy dark green tinged with maroon veins. Roots perfectly round with deep red skin. Flesh deep blood red with light zoning, tender and fine grained. Slightly corrosive in taste when eaten raw. Maturity 80–100 days. Yield about 180 q/ha.
