Agri-Clinic and Agri-Business Centre Scheme: Empowering Agri-Entrepreneurs for Farmer Services

The Agri-Clinic and Agri-Business Centre Scheme is a government initiative designed to promote self-employment among agricultural graduates by enabling them to provide extension and other agri-services to farmers on a payment basis. The scheme aims to create a network of economically viable, entrepreneur-led ventures that support farmers with access to quality agricultural inputs, expert advice, and innovative farming solutions.

Selected trainees undergo Agri-Entrepreneurship Development training for two months at identified Nodal Training Institutes, with free handholding support for one year to assist them in securing bank finance and successfully setting up their businesses in rural areas. The training is managed by MANAGE (National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management), which ensures that the entrepreneurs are equipped with the skills needed to run their agri-businesses efficiently.

To facilitate business establishment, the scheme offers credit support up to ₹20 lakhs for individual projects and ₹100 lakhs for group projects. This financial assistance is monitored by NABARD through Commercial Banks, Cooperative Banks, and Regional Rural Banks. The scheme provides full financial support for training and handholding, along with credit-linked, back-ended composite subsidies to ease the burden on budding entrepreneurs.

By fostering a cadre of trained agri-entrepreneurs, the Agri-Clinic and Agri-Business Centre Scheme enhances farmers’ access to timely and reliable agricultural services, improves farm productivity, and creates sustainable rural employment opportunities.
