Sown with the onset of the south-west monsoon in June–July and harvested by October.
Kharif means "autumn" in Arabic.

Rabi Crops
Sown in November during the north-east monsoon and harvested by February.
Rabi means "spring" in Arabic.
Examples: Wheat, Chickpea, Pea, Sunflower, Safflower, Mustard.

Zaid Crops
Grown between Rabi and Kharif seasons, sown in March and harvested by May.
Examples: Paddy, Groundnut, Moong, Sunflower, Maize.
